Disney on Ice – Motorpoint Arena, Cardiff

First things first, you are NEVER too old for a bit of Disney.

I was lucky enough to recently be invited by Feld Entertainment, to attend Disney on Ice’s VIP night at the Motorpoint Arena in Cardiff.

I have never been to Wales before (that I can remember), so this in itself was an exciting prospect.

I decided to film a little video of my experience below. I managed to capture a little snippet of each act, as I didn’t want to spoil the whole show.

As we all know, I am no vlogger – so please bear with me!

I’m always nervous when visiting new venues for the first time, as you never know what their disabled access is like. Overall, I was very impressed.

Although the main entrance had steps, they had an easily accessible side entrance, which was clearly sign posted.

The ramped entrance took you straight into the box office, which also had power assisted doors – as seen in my video above.

I was pleased to see that each seating level had disabled access toilets. Prior to my visit, I found the arena’s website very helpful.

Not only does the website provide a virtual tour, it makes you aware of facilities which you otherwise would not have know about, such as their Hearing Loop system.

Assistance dogs are also welcome.

On entering the building, I was also pleased to see the above poster advertised in reception.

Knowing that the arena is part of the “attitude is everything” movement, filled me with confidence that they care for their disabled customers.

All staff who we came into contact with were very friendly and helpful. We were seated in the “Live Access” area, and were made aware that there was a steward stood outside the booth at all times, in case we needed assistance.

Although there is no official on-site parking for the Motorpoint Arena, there are several car parks within walking distance. As we arrived in plenty of time, there were no issues in finding a space.

I will however note that there were no concessions for disabled parking. The pricing was pretty extortionate!

Maybe it’s a Welsh thing, I’m not sure, but I’ve never paid £18 for parking in Cornwall before!

As a fan of all things Disney / Pixar, I cannot fault the show. The staging and costumes were FANTASTIC and the music choices were everything you would expect.

The Lion King, Toy Story and Frozen were probably my three favourites.

Regardless of what age you are, the show was brilliant entertainment.

I’ve always loved ice skating, so combining this with some classic characters, made the perfect evening.

I’d just like to say a big thank you to the team at Disney on Ice and the Motorpoint Arena for looking after us.

Also, shoutout to my sister Rose and PA Jenni for coming along with me. We may have been the oldest ones there, but hey, it was worth it!
