Joining a Gym!

In 2013 I jokingly posted this picture online…

Ross sat in his wheelchair, with his feet on the edge of a treadmill

5 years on and I can’t believe I’ve actually joined a bloody gym – crazy!! Never in a million years would I have thought I’d ever write that sentence. But hey, I’m here and I’m doing it!

No, I haven’t been kidnapped and this is not my cry for help… I may have slightly lost my mind, but I’m really excited for this new challenge.

Firstly, for all you thinking i’ve had some sort of medical miracle overnight… no. I’m still very much weaker than water. These wheels aren’t going anywhere, trust me!

Funny meme of a McDonalds with the GY added before the M.

Since posting about my Body Story earlier on in the month, I’ve been looking for ways to improve my fitness and overall wellbeing. Besides the obvious weight loss goals, the main reason I’m doing this is to try and maintain the limited muscle I have.

I hate to admit it, but my basic strength is getting worse and everyday tasks are becoming harder. So this is something really important to me on a personal level.

I’ve accepted the fact I will never have a six pack. The closest I’ll ever get to being ‘ripped’ is the hole in my jeans…

Obviously I am limited in what I can do, but I already feel so much more positive for trying. I’ve even invested in a small hand-bike at home, so that I can keep up the momentum on my days off between sessions.

So far I’m really enjoying using the hand-bike, ankle weights and boxing gloves. Shoutout to Morgan’s gym and my instructor George for being so accommodating.

I’ve never worked up a sweat in my life, so I’m 99% sure this will kill me…

Fun times!
