Sometimes you just need to wrap yourself up in a tortilla blankey and tell yourself everything will be ok!

Hello strangers, it’s been a while! Bit chilly isn’t it…
Today I felt like writing a blog post, which is not something I’ve done a lot of recently. How can I call myself a blogger when I barely post anymore?! But hey ho, here we are!
My college work is now coming to an end (woohoo!) and I’m still loving my weekly slot on CHAOS TV / Radio. Christmas is also fast approaching which makes me very happy.
“Ross’s Grotto” is slowly starting to come to life, and my Colin the Caterpillar advent calendar is in full swing!
So to make this post a little bit more interesting, I thought I’d share some of the main things I’ve been up to recently.
Becoming a Mentor
I’ve recently signed up to become a peer mentor! Yes you read that right… let’s just ignore the fact that I despise most kids shall we.
So you may be wondering… WHY?
Was it because the training involved free food and a couple of weekends away in a fancy hotel?
Possibly.
Exhibit A – here I am enjoying a lovely Eton Mess after my training on the final evening, haha.

All jokes aside, I’m really proud to be a part of Active8’s new mentorship programme, which will see a group of previous members (such as myself) supporting the new youngsters coming through the charity.
Active8 have done a lot for me in my life, so I almost feel like this is a great opportunity for me to give something back – as I have nothing but positive memories from my own experience with them (since the age of 13!). God help the poor kid who gets buddied up with me tho.

Car Troubles
I’ve recently had some car issues which has been really frustrating for all those involved – and by that I mean me, my mum and anyone else I’ve come into contact with. I’ve not been a happy boy!
What seemed like a simple MOT fail at first, later resulted in me not having my vehicle for two whole weeks. As a disabled driver with such high tech adaptions, this was a real kick in the teeth – as my car provides me with the ultimate freedom and independence to live my everyday life.

I never thought I’d see the day where I had to become a “Karen” to actually get things sorted! But fear not, I am now back on the road and looking forward to getting my new vehicle at some point in the new year.
Access Cornwall
Whilst I may have neglected my own blog recently, I have still been doing little bits of freelance work in between.
When I first started my writing journey a few years back, I could only ever dream about working for a company who promote positive access and inclusion. Access Cornwall provide detailed listings covering a range of information for people with mobility issues, hearing/visual impairments and autism.

Whether it’s a restaurant, hotel or tourist attraction, the aim of the website is to provide a positive hub of accessible information. I recently wrote a feature for them in regards to Flicka Donkey sanctuary, which you can read here.
Social
Whilst I’m still quite cautious to venture out into the big bad world, I have definitely been more social over the past few months.
This weekend I even dusted off my fancy dress box as I attended my first christmas party of the year! The pirate theme was optional… so of course I went all out!

It’s also been great to hang out with more friends in person again. Here are a selection of my favourite social pics from the past few months:

I’ve missed sharing these little life updates, as it’s almost like having my own “best bits” to look back on in years to come – so I hope you guys enjoyed it too.
Hopefully I won’t leave it so long next time!
Take care,
Ross x
