OMG SANTA’S COMING!!!!
Now that Halloween is over and done with, I am definitely feeling the christmas spirit. It won’t be long until my tree is up and I can finally get the mistletoe out, waheyyyy!
This year I decided to get involved with Operation Christmas Child – a project run by the Samaritan’s Purse charity.
“The mission of Operation Christmas Child is to show God’s love in a tangible way to needy children around the world. Since 1990, more than 146 million children in over 150 countries have experienced love through the power of simple shoebox gifts.”
I am not religious in any way, shape or form… but sometimes it just feels nice to be a good human. I haven’t done one of these boxes since I was back in primary school and this year it just felt right.
Before packing your shoebox, you need to pick a gender and age range to specifically buy for. On the Samaritans Purse website, they have ready-made labels that you can print off, as well as some suitable gift suggestions and local drop-off point information.
I decided to buy for a boy aged 10-14 years and my mum bought for a girl aged 5-9.
For my shoebox, I limited myself to a £10 budget. This may not sound a lot, but it’s surprising how many nice little things you can actually buy for this amount!
As well as this, I have also donated £5 online to cover shipping fee’s, which also allows me to track my shoebox and see where it ends up!
