Meeting American Rockband... Wheatus!

"I'm just a teenage dirtbaggg, baaaaby!"

Well today's blog post is definitely not something I had on my 2023 bingo card!

If you're a regular listener to CHAOS Radio, you will have heard me teasing a very exciting guest over the past few weeks.

Not only did I get to interview Brendan B. Brown (lead singer from the legendary pop/rockband Wheatus) I also got to meet him in person AND record an acoustic performance of their iconic hit, Teenage Dirtbag.

My inner 90's child is screaming right now.

First things first, I decided to wear a very subtle outfit for the interview... what d'ya think?

For those wondering how this all came about... let me explain.

As part of my job role - as a regular presenter on CHAOS Radio - I often spend a lot of time scouting the internet for guests to appear on my weekly live shows.

A few months back, I noticed that Wheatus were currently on a big UK & Ireland tour - with 2 dates scheduled for venues right here in Cornwall. One was at The Watering Hole in Perranporth and the other was at The Princess Pavillion in Falmouth.

So I thought... why not shoot my shot?!

Much to my surprise, I actually got a response! I was genuinely buzzing and could not wait to share the news with the rest of the team.

A few emails back & forth... and here we are! Not only had the band agreed to an interview, but they also offered us an exclusive, acoustic performance of Dirtbag.

Overall, it was such a fun experience. Brendan was so friendly and up for laugh - taking my Cornish quiz all in good spirit. And hey, who doesn't love a pasty prize at the end, right?!

Being pretty-much serenaded by such a legendary song is something I will treasure for a lifetime, and I'm so glad we got to capture it all for you too. This interview was definitely a career highlight for me.

I just want to end this post by saying a big THANK YOU to Wheatus and their management team for being so accommodating, and to the CHAOS Crew for trusting me with free rein.
