The Isolation Diaries (week 14, 15 & 16)

Dear diary,

Remember the days when Corona was just a beer?

We've officially passed the 100 day mark! (woohoo) I'm not sure whether to laugh or cry, but hey, I'm still here!

Tuesday 16th June

In my previous post, you will have seen that I made a start on re-painting my garden gnomes. Since then, I have now moved onto these smaller bad boys. Here's a little before and after for ya!

Wednesday 17th June

It's no surprise that I have been watching A LOT of Netflix recently. I'm currently binge watching the last 2 seasons of 13 Reasons Why and it's so good! I know this show has had it's controversies, but I respect the fact it tackles difficult subjects in a powerful and moving way.

There may or may not have been a few tears... I'm emotional, alright.

Friday 19th June

Today I experienced McDonalds chicken nuggets for the first time EVER and I honestly can't stop thinking about them since.

It was so nice to meet my friend for a drive-thru catch up. Whilst maintaining social distancing rules, we parked up in separate cars and ate our goodies with the windows down.

This evening, I took part in Active8's virtual pub quiz night. Unfortunately the boys team lost their title this week, but no doubt we'll be back!

Sunday 21st June

Today may not have been the usual Fathers Day shenanigans, but it was still nice to spend some time with the family. And by that, I mean we had a takeaway roast dinner. YUM.

Tuesday 23rd June

I feel like today was the first proper day that I've left the house without driving. I've been for little dog walks around the block but never too far, or anywhere so open to the public.

As nice as it was, I still feel very cautious around other people. I saw something online the other day that said "wearing a mask is not a political statement. It means you care about other people's health and safety" - which I couldn't agree with more.

Ralphy on the other hand loved every minute.

Wednesday 24th June

Today the sun was shining which can only mean one thing... HOT TUB TIME!

What's the point in staying at home if you're not going to make the most of it?!

Thursday 25th June

Tonight was the first time I've seen my friends since the start of lockdown. Although we still chat online most days, you can't beat a face to face catchup.

Again, maintaining strict social distancing we enjoyed a pizza in the garden for James's birthday.

It's little things like this that I need to do, in order to build my confidence to venture back into the "normal world" - whatever that may be.

Monday 29th June

Today I received the nicest surprise gift through the post from one of my friends. CHOCOLATE BISCUIT LOLLIPOPS! It doesn't get much better than that.

A selection of 5 chocolate biscuit lollipops, topped with jaffa cake, jammie dodger, custard cream, party ring and cookie
Tuesday 30th June

Continuing on the food theme, I made a bet with my Dad the other night that whoever lost (aka me) had to buy the family chinese for tea. I will happily make more bets like this because it really was a win for me either way. MMMM

The diet was due to start today but there was still some leftover chinese in the fridge, sooooo..... yeah.

I did however make the pledge to start using my pedal bike again everyday. Let's see how long it lasts!

(update: it lasted 2 days)

Thursday 2nd July

Today was a good day! Mum and I went for a nice drive this afternoon and it was lovely just to get out for a few hours.

Whilst out and about, I also picked up some chicken nuggets for my preggo friend and surprised her in the garden with a cheeky box to share.

Friday 3rd July

Possibly my most random post yet, but today I watched the Fisherman's Friends movie and I absolutely loved it.

I've been singing sea shanties around the house all day now haha.

As the pubs launch their big re-openings, I am anxious for what's to come over the next few weeks.

But for now, I am happy and healthy in my little bubble.
