"What are you most excited about for the future?"

I was working on a project recently where somebody asked me: "What are you most excited about for the future?"

Whilst I usually have a very positive outlook on life, I can't deny that this question stumped me. What am I excited for?

I'm usually the kind of guy who always has plans written in the calendar - a social butterfly of sorts. But after shielding for nearly a year now and with future events being cancelled left, right and centre, it's getting harder to see the light at the end of the tunnel.

So with that being said, I turned to my Instagram followers for some inspiration and I was overwhelmed by the amount of responses I received.

I'm not sure what I was expecting, but I was amazed at how simple the majority of people's answers were. It bought a real smile to my face, as it just proves that we don't need extravagant plans or material things to make us happy anymore.

Don't get me wrong, a trip to the Maldives would be lovely right now... but it's just nice to see how our priorities have changed.

So for today's post I thought I would share a selection of my favourite responses to the question:

What are you most excited about for the future?

Header with the text: HUGS!

This was probably the most popular response I received and I absolutely love it! Who would have thought that something so simple as a hug could be at the top of people's wish list?! I can't wait to give certain people a good squeeze once all this COVID malarky is over.

Header with the text: Dinner and a movie

YES! I will never take the cinema for granted again. Whilst I love a cosy film night at home, I also enjoy the buzz of watching a new release on the big screen. Pass me the popcorn - I'm so ready for this!

Header with the text: Holidays and travelling

Whilst I've never been the best of travellers, I do miss little trips away. Everything is better when the sun is shining, so I think it's fair to say that I'm excited for a holiday at some point in the future. The Southwest also have some amazing "staycation" options, which I am definitely keen to explore once it is safe to do so.

Header with the text: Being in a busy pub with friends

Absolutely! As you all know, I love my food and one thing I have definitely missed the most during this pandemic is the ability to go to the pub. Pre-COVID, the pub was essentially my social life - as when I look back on it - all my plans seemed to revolve around meeting friends for food.

I'm not usually one for crowded places or busy nights out, but I too miss an evening on the dance floor. Bunters bar, I hope you're ready!!

Header with the text: Finding a job I love and enjoy

This is so true! As some of you may know, I made the decision to leave my job during the first UK lockdown due to my concerns over shielding. As difficult as this was, I am excited for a new working challenge in the future.

Despite most of us moaning about having to 'go to work', I actually really miss the routine and the independence it gave me.

As a fellow blogger, I completely agree with this answer! Whilst I've done my best to my keep content as interesting as possible from home, I definitely miss exploring new places, attending events and writing reviews.

I am also really excited to make plans and collaborate with other creators once restrictions allow. I am lucky enough to have made some great friends online over the past few years, so I am looking forward to hanging out with these people in person!

I hope you guys enjoyed this post. Of course there were many more responses that I'd have loved to share, however I think it's best we keep things PG for now - as some of your answers were filthy! haha

Speak soon,

Ross x
