It’s official… I am the WORLD’S WORST VLOGGER!
I was recently invited to a ‘preview night’ at the Eden Project’s latest seasonal event: Shadows & Light.
As a fan of all things festive, this really was a dream come true. I have visited the Eden Project several times over the years and to be given the opportunity to write a review – before the event was even open to the public – was a real honour.
I decided to switch things up a bit and film my experience in the style of a vlog. This was definitely a challenge for me, but believe it or not, I thoroughly enjoyed it!
Feel free to laugh with me or laugh at me, whatever suits!
Eden describe their event as an “all-new after-dark experience” where the site is transformed into an “ever-changing landscape of shadows and light”.
Accessibility
As you can see from my video, the accessibility on site is fantastic. Pathways are large and spacious, with ramps all throughout the biomes.

There are two large disabled car parks nearest the entrance, as well as multiple disabled toilets inside the venue.
I was very impressed with the “RoomMate” device in one of the toilets I went in. This feature offers blind and visually impaired visitors a bespoke audio description inside the toilet.

Apparently there is also a Changing Places toilet facility on site. Unfortunately, I wasn’t aware of this until after the event. If I could make one improvement, I would suggest clearer signage/awareness of this in the main reception.
Food & Drink
Now it wouldn’t be christmas without a cheeky mince pie or two would it?! As you can tell from the final blooper in my video, the mince pies at Eden were AMAZING. If I could batch buy them all, then I would!
Evening meals are also available from the Eden Kitchen Cafe.

Ice Skating
Although I didn’t skate this time, I’ve always enjoyed getting on the ice at Eden. Earlier on in the year, I wrote a full review from the eyes of a wheelchair user, which you can check out by clicking here.
Thank You’s
I would just like to say a massive thank you to my sister for helping me film my video. Not only did we have a great laugh, but she was my arms and legs for the night, after the cold got to my body and my wheelchair battery died… You can follow her adventures on Instagram by clicking here.
Let me know if you get chance to check out the Shadow’s & Light experience for yourself.

Please also check out the Eden Project’s website for further details of upcoming events.
